Kiambu County to give seeds and inputs to farmers

Kiambu Governor Dr Kimani Wamatangi and Deputy Governor Rosemary Kirika held a strategy meeting with technical staff from the department of agriculture and livestock to discuss and plan for the up-coming distribution of farm in-puts scheduled across the county as a way of tackling the rising food insecurity and economic empowerment.

The County will distribute certified maize seeds (Sh30 million, beans (Sh5 million), coffee fertilizer for the cooperatives (30million) and avocado seedlings (60, 000) fingerlings, three-month-old piglets and kienyeji chicks to farmers in all the 60 wards.

Through the meeting, the department was able to come up with the best ways to identify in-put beneficiaries. The Governor reiterated his commitment to ensuring proper accountability of public resources through making decisions that will steer the County to a direction that will ensure things are done efficiently.
