The Nyeri County Agricultural Field Day usually held at Wambugu Agriculture Training Centre (Wambugu Farm) in July resumed this year after being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Kilimo News at Wambugu Farm on Friday the first day of the event, the Nyeri County Agriculture CEC James Muturi said that the popular field day had been held virtually in the last two years but physical attendance resumed this year due to the low cases of Covid-19. He said that more than 100 stakeholders took part in the field day while about twenty two thousand (22,000) farmers attended.

“This is the only agricultural show that a hundred per cent focuses on agricultural issues without diversionary tactics.  You have seen what has happened to ASK shows where other sectors also come to exhibit. But this is purely agriculture, especially on matters innovations and technologies and farmers come from all over Kenya to learn,” said the CEC. He urged farmers to take advantage of the free event in the future to learn.
