Nakuru setting up a Kshs. 2M zero grazing demo unit

The County Government of Nakury in partnership with AgriFi is setting up a modern 10-unit zero-grazing structure worth Ksh. 2 million.

The unit which is in the initial construction stages is expected to be complete by end of March and will serve as a demo for farmers.

The unit will comprise of a milking area, feed store, spraying unit, bio-digester and a milk shop.

The County government has an active campaign urging farmers to reduce their cattle numbers for maximum production.

The Directorate of Livestock advises that, animals confined can use most of the energy from feeds for growth and milk production.

This will help farmers be keen on animal husbandry practices including clean farm milk production, animal health and ease of collection of manure.
