Nakuru County completes phase 1 of trading centres mapping

The first phase of Mapping, Planning and Surveying of 29 trading centres in the County has been successfully completed. The last stakeholder’s forum was conducted today at Githioro trading centre, Bahati Sub County. The forum undertaken by the Department of Lands, Physical Planning and Housing involved presenting a development framework of the area to the residents, engaging them in a consultative session and obtaining their views and concerns regarding the county physical map and its potential impact to the centre.

The Department’s Chief Officer, who is also the County team leader of the program, Judyleah Waihenya, said that the exercise will fast track security of tenure for the beneficiaries and protect public utility plots.”Securing title deeds will also lead to increased revenue collection to the county as the titled properties will be part of our county Valuation Roll as well as attract big investment to the centres,” she added. Area MCA Michael Machembu appreciated the strides made by the County Government noting that the exercise will open up new opportunities and also help protect public land from encroachment.
