Conserving water sources in in Uasin Gishu County

The County Government of Uasin Gishu in Kenya is keen on desilting dams, drilling boreholes and conserving the environment to get enough water for its residents and improve their livelihoods according to the Deputy Governor.

Speaking while hosting the International Fund For Agricultural Development (IFAD) team who are on a project Design mission for the establishment of the Eldoret ~Iten water fund, Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Hon. Daniel Chemno echoed the county’s efforts in supporting matters of water conservation.

“As a county, we will work closely with you since Water and Environmental Conservation is our priority in Uasin Gishu County” added the Deputy Governor.

The County Executive Committee Member for Water, Mrs Mary Njogu in her closing remarks called on them to join the County in the upcoming Eldoret City Marathon which is scheduled to take place in Mid-April stating that the marathon works towards averting the effects of climate change.

The project- The Eldoret Water Fund will benefit the residents of Uasin Gishu County by enabling them to have access to clean and quality drinking water through the conservation of water sources.
