Nawiri Program launched in Samburu County

Samburu County Deputy Governor H.E. Julius Leseeto and Heather Schildge, USAID Kenya and East Africa – Deputy Mission Director signed a memorandum of understanding to run the NAWIRI food security program in the county.

USAID’s Office of Food for Peace recently awarded funding to a Mercy Corps-led consortium of Kenyan and international partners for a 5-year Development Food Security Activity (DFSA) in Turkana and Samburu counties of Kenya.The NAWIRI program will be implemented through a phased approach that emphasizes learning, partnership, and co-creation with government, civil society, communities, and the private sector to drive sustained reductions in acute malnutrition in both counties.

In attendance were Michael Desisti Director Regional Office of Food for Peace,Darius Radcliffe Chief of Party for Mercy Corps,Tom Lalampaa CEO NRT, County Assembly Speaker Solomon Lempere,Acting County Secretary Bosco Ole Sambu among others.
