100 water pans to be constructed in Nakuru County

A 100 water pans will be constructed within Nessuit and Njoro Wards of Nakuru County. The project is a partnership between the County Government of Nakuru and the National Irrigation Board. The water pans are expected to benefit 500 households.

The targeted farms suffer from perennial flooding due to heavy rains in the Mau area. The water pans will collect excess water during the rainy season which can then be used during the dry season for irrigation purposes. The water pans are to be constructed on land with an acreage of above 2.5 acres.

A delegation led by Engineer Bundotich from the National Irrigation Board assessed the farms where construction will take place. They were accompanied by the sub county administrator, engineers from the National Irrigation Board and lead farmers.
