12 farmer groups in Murindat ward, Gilgil sub-county in Nakuru County have received 12 automatic incubators of 176 egg capacity and backup generators from the County Government of Nakuru. The initiative under the ward project has so far seen farmers in Gilgil sub-county benefit from about 30 incubators distributed to Mbaruk/Eburru, Malewa and Murindat wards according to the county government.

The farmers have been urged to ensure consistent monitoring and ensure uniformity of incubator temperature and humidity and articulate record keeping for analysis. The directorate of livestock will follow up with rigorous training to farmers on hatchery management in addition to poultry rearing and management. According to the county, hatchery establishments though labour intensive will create employment along the poultry value chain and are community inclusive.
