County promoting agroforestry

Tree planting and agro-forestry are some of the Sustainable Land Management practices adopted by the County Government of Nandi through the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) to enhance environmental conservation and enrich soil health while contributing to a good ecosystem for agricultural productivity.

The CEC for Agriculture & Cooperative Development Dr. Kiplimo Araap Lagat flagged off distribution of 17,020 assorted indigenous trees and 11,000 grafted avocado seedlings. They will be planted across the Chesumei Landscape Conservation Project area covering 10 villages in Kosirai and Kaptel Kamoiywo wards namely; Kapkeben, Rongit, Masan, Kapcheluch, Kangingich, Chemamul, Kapkemel, Kosirai, Kibuson and Kapchorwa.

The sustainable land management activities done in the area include terracing, excavation of farm ponds and terraces, and tree planting.
