Pakistan will cooperate with Nyandarua County Government in several areas including enforcement of 2019 Irish Potato Regulations on 50-kilograms bag packaging, regulation of the Pyrethrum industry amidst its ongoing revival to shield farmers from exploitation, promotion of sugar beet growing, promotion of export horticultural crops and capacity-building on food safety to ensure export crops meet the food safety standards on Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) of global markets.
This was agreed when the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Kenya, Her Excellency Ms. Saqlain Syedah, graced a farmers’ field day in Ol’Kalou Sub-County. She was accompanied by a delegation from the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA)
The envoy expressed the Pakistan Government’s intention to support Nyandarua by initiating an exchange program for veterinary doctors and expeditions for farmers from the two sister nations, offering specialized training on horticulture, the establishment of research centres and targeted scholarships in addition to the production of assorted farming machinery including hand sowers for small-scale farmers.
