Nyeri county has added a fleet of motorcycles for agricultural extension officers to strengthen the capacity of service delivery in the county.
The county says that this will ensure the mobility of extension officers to boost agricultural productivity as benefit from improved access to knowledge on modern farming techniques for crops, fisheries, and livestock sector.
The eight Suzuki motorbikes add to the fleet of 16 others in the veterinary directorate and six others fisheries directorate.
The extension officers will also be able to monitor the work of 210 agripreneurs extension officers who will soon be hired to boost extension services.
“I wish to recognize and appreciate the good work done by the 87 extension officers stationed around the eight sub-counties. We plan to purchase more motorbikes to improve services in the future. My administration is committed to bolstering agricultural outreach, ensuring that our officers can traverse remote regions effortlessly and enhance agricultural productivity for services to every farmer they reach in every village,” siad Nyer Governor Mutahi Kahiga during the flagging off of the fleet.
