The Kenya Fisheries Service (KeFS) in collaboration with officers from the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries engaged in a fingerling stocking activity at Githura dam in Mugunda ward, Nyeri County.
The team delivered 30,000 fingerlings to the Mugunda community which is part of a countrywide project to stock 2 million fingerlings across all 47 counties.The KeFS further plans to supply 50,000 more fingerlings in Nyeri County, a process that will be facilitated by the county government through the Department of Agriculture.
Speaking at the forum, KeFS Board Chairman, Gonzi Rai expressed great pleasure and confidence in the project, noting that it will be of help to the community in three crucial pillars: income generation, creation of employment and improved health standards. He guaranteed the national government’s commitment to working with the county governments to ensure the success of the project.
