The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in charge of Crops and Food Security in Tanzania, Dr. Hussein Mohamed Omar launched an electronic system that will enable Tanzania Fertilizer Company (TFC) to access its fertilizer sales and distribution information in all areas of the country in a timely manner. He explained that the system will increase work efficiency as the use of technology is an easy and fast way to obtain daily information on fertilizer distribution and sales.
The event was also attended by the TFC Director General, Mr. Samuel Mshote at the Tanzania Fertilizer Company (TFC) Headquarters, on December 24, 2024. Three vehicles that will be used in the distribution of subsidized fertilizer to farmers through TFC were also commisioned where Dr. Omar said that the presence of these vehicles is an ongoing effort by the Government to ensure that subsidized fertilizer distribution services are improved and reach all farmers in the country.
“These vehicles will be able to reach farmers where they are, which will reduce the cost for farmers to come to the city and increase the availability of fertilizer in large quantities,” explained Dr. Omar. He insisted that the vehicles should be used for their intended purpose so that farmers can benefit and increase production.
Dr. Omar also met with TFC employees and explained to them that the Government has trusted TFC and given it capital, so it is the responsibility of the employees to work hard so that this trust is reflected in good results. He urged the employees to be a team, work collaboratively, fulfill their responsibilities and each one of them in their roles to ensure that they have a contribution to the growth and development of the company.
He also called on TFC to continue collaborating with other stakeholders in helping farmers understand the soil health of their areas, a step that will enable them to know what type of fertilizer a farmer should use based on soil health.
