Slaughter house attendants will receive training to ensure they acquire the necessary skills needed to maintain the quality of hides and skins during the slaughtering process. Speaking at Kisargei, Segera Ward in Laikipia County, Agriculture CS Peter Munya said that the National government will conduct the training together with the Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) and County governments in order to increase the value of hides and skins.
“We are also going to equip the attendants with modern slaughtering tools because currently most of them damage the hides and skins which decreases their value when they are sold,” said the CEC. He added that the programme will be rolled out all over the country soon as the funds are available.
