Government Urges Compliance With Laws in Agriculture Development Projects

Project and Contract Management training for engineers from the Ministry of Agriculture and its institutions.

All projects implemented under the Ministry of Agriculture in Tanzania have been directed to fully comply with government laws, procedures, and regulations in order to enhance efficiency and ensure value for money in the implementation of development projects.

The directive was issued by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization, Athumani Kilundumya, while officially closing a 15-day training on Project and Contract Management for engineers from the Ministry of Agriculture and its institutions. The closing ceremony took place on March 6, 2026, at the Nzuguni Nanenane Grounds in Dodoma City.

The training was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) with the aim of strengthening engineers’ capacity in effective project and contract management, guided by the principles of accountability, efficiency, and value for money in the implementation of development projects.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Permanent Secretary Kilundumya said the Ministry aims to become a strong institution capable of managing development projects with professionalism, transparency, and adherence to professional standards. He emphasized that the Ministry will continue building the capacity of engineers and project managers through regular training to ensure government projects are implemented to the expected standards and within the planned timelines.

In another development, Kilundumya commended the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) for its cooperation in making the training successful, particularly for bringing experienced experts who provided in-depth knowledge on effective project management. He said the Ministry of Agriculture will continue working with ERB to organize and deliver training for professionals in the sector in order to strengthen expertise in managing development projects for the public good.

The training was officially opened by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Gerald Mweli, on February 16, 2026, and involved 96 participants from the Ministry of Agriculture and its institutions.
