The County government of Vihiga has allocated funds towards the first phase of the construction of the first Agricultural Training and Innovation Center (ATIC) in North East Bunyore Ward, Emuhaya Sub County.
Speaking during a public participation exercise regarding the project, Vihiga Agriculture Livestock and Fisheries CEC Nicholas Kitungulu, called for maximum cooperation as the department kick starts the project that will be put up this year.
According to Chief Officer Dominic Luvavo, the project has been captured in the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) while surveying and fencing of the 14 acres of land is set to begin. He said the project will not only uplift the economic status of farmers in the county but will also empower them with skills and knowledge to enable them practice modern agricultural practices that will see more farmers in Vihiga embrace Agri-business.
Through the public participation exercise, Vihiga residents had an opportunity to give their views about ATIC project that is set to be established this year.
