Turkana County is in the process of establishing the first Agricultural Training Centre (ATC)
A site for construction of the ATC at Naotin area of KanamKemer Ward was handed over officially to the contractor. The centre will serve as a learning institution for farmers and County Government staff on improving crop productivity with a focus on the mechanization of agriculture. It will also be used for bolstering research and policy as well as serve as a unit for tractors repair and servicing.
Turkana County agriculture CEC Philip Aemun officially handed over the site to the contractor and warned against a shoddy job that he said would water down the intended function of the proposed facility. He implored on residents of Natoot to support the project that he said will open the area for investments. He directed the projects implementation committee to ensure that they coordinate with stakeholders to fast-track completion of the centre.
The County Executive meanwhile received phones to be distributed to Community Diseases Reporters(CDRS) for use in disease reporting and surveillance. The 12 phones were donated by GIZ organization and will be distributed to CDRS in Nariemito (Turkana West) and Naipa(Loima).
