The Nandi County Department of Agriculture and Cooperatives Development is running a Training of Trainers program, specifically tailored for lead avocado and poultry farmers across the county.
The training is designed to equip these farmers with practical skills and knowledge aimed at enhancing avocado and poultry production.
During the training for poultry lead farmers in Tuloi, Chesumei Sub-County, essential topics such as poultry disease management, housing, incubation, and hatching are being covered, all of which are critical for successful poultry farming.
The County Government of Nandi is urging farmers to organise themselves into common interest groups and adopt the SACCOs model across all agricultural value chains. The department, through the National Agriculture Value Chain Development Program (NAVCDP) says it supports this model, which allows farmers to pool resources, reduce costs, increase bargaining power, and improve access to markets, training, and other vital services.
