Nakuru carries out livestock vaccination

More than 1,500 cattle and 150 dogs have been vaccinated in Moi Ndabi, Maella ward, Naivasha sub county of Nakuru County.

The vaccination is against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Lumpy Skin Disease(LSD) and rabies.

The vaccination was conducted in Tanki Tatu, Kwa Maina, Moi Ndabi and Kipkonyo areas.

According to the County Vet Officer, Dr. Christopher Auma, the area is highly dependent on livestock farming and the County aims at achieving herd immunity to offer indirect protection to the infectious diseases.

In addition to that, the Vet sub county Officer, Ms. Miriam Nackeel, said that more than 15,000 cattle out of the total population of 25,000 have so far been vaccinated.

The vaccination has happened in Naivasha East, Biashara, Gilgil, Hell’s gate and Maeila wards.

It is also continuing in Kuresoi South, Kuresoi North and Rongai sub counties.
