The Nakuru county department of Agriculture has distributed 1,900 one-month chicks to farmer groups in Biashara ward, Naivasha sub county under the County improved local chicken stimulus project.

The improved chicks which can lay up to 250 eggs per year, compared to the local breed which lays up to 70 per year, are to help farmers curb inbreeding and low productivity in terms of both egg and meat production.

The County has already distributed chicks to groups in Njoro and Molo sub county.
