Nakuru County has started the construction of five tea buying Centres. The county handed over the construction to the Contractor of the five centers in Amalo ward,Kuresoi south Sub-County.
The five include Kaplamai, Chumyot, Baregewet, Lelaitich and Ngorofa Tea buying Centres.
The construction is set to be done in phases and for the first phase will see each centre allocated Kshs 1.5 Million.
Kuresoi south is an agricultural productive area with a large number of people growing Tea.
“The construction is going to start all the way from the foundation up to the roofing for all the give sites. The remaining works will be budgeted for in the next financial year to equip the facilities,”said Agriculture Chief Officer Kibet Maina during the handing over.
Wesley Rono,a Tea farmer and Chairman of the Chumyot Tea buying Factory noted that the community has welcomed the project saying it will improve the welfare of smallholder farmers.
