The Kenyan government is in the process of training personnel in preparation for registering farmers in the country.
While launching the exercise, Agriculture Cabinet secretary Mithika Linturi said they had started with training Trainers of Trainers (ToTs). The ToTs will then train those conducting the actual registration exercise on the ground.
The training also involved other ministries like Planning, Interior, Lands, and County governments Representatives and the 141 Assistant County Commissioners. We have seen it important as a government to prepare in order to enable enough food production in the country. This will also enable us to assist our farmers in our subsidy programme, whether dealing with fertilizer or seeds. “The data will enable us to know the actual number of farmers in need of support and also the number of farmers engaging in active farming in the country,” said Linturi
