Welcome to this week’s edition of the HK Coffee Market Summary: Sale 42
Sale 42 took place on Tuesday September 17th 2024 at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange trading floor as usual and online trading platforms and was completed successfully.
Key Highlights
• Volumes Traded: 9,736 bags were bought at an average price of $245 per 50 kg bag.
• Average Price: Equivalent to Kshs 98 per kilo of cherry.
• Total Value: The total value of coffee traded was $2,964,278 or Kshs 379 million.
• Highest Price: The highest price paid for coffee in this trade was $337 per bag for 10 bags (609 kgs) of grade AA from JOBE FARM – Code BF0148. The coffee was purchased by Kenya Nut Company Ltd but was not confirmed.
• Confirmed: The number of bags confirmed by close of business were 1817 or 19% of the volumes that was traded.
• Price Above $300: A total of 216 bags, or 2% of the volume traded, attracted a price of $300 and above.
• Grades AA and AB: 6543 bags, or 67% of the volume traded, were grades AA and AB.
• Brokers: Eight Brokers brokers which are New KPCU, Alliance Berries, Kirinyaga Slopes, Meru Union, Mt. Elgon, KCCEMA, Kiambu Coffee, and Kinya Coffee participated in the trade.
• Buyers: All coffee traded was bought by 16 buyers, led by Ibero. JOSRA Coffee Group bought the lowest amount of coffee buying 10 bags (635 Kgs) of grade PB at $268 from KASINGA FCS
