Welcome to this week’s edition of the HK Coffee Market Summary: Sale 41
Sale 41 took place on Tuesday September 10th 2024 at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange trading floor as usual and online trading platforms and was completed successfully.
Key Highlights
• Volumes Traded: 9,714 bags were bought at an average price of $236 per 50 kg bag.
• Average Price: Equivalent to Kshs 98 per kilo of cherry.
• Total Value: The total value of coffee traded was $2,876,506 or Kshs 374 million.
• Highest Price: The highest price paid for coffee in this trade was $303 per bag for 47 bags (2,848kgs) of grade AA from MBARANGA – factory Code XBA038F02, part of TIGANIA NORTH FCS LTD in Meru County. The coffee was purchased by C.Dormans Ltd but was not confirmed.
• Confirmed: The number of bags confirmed by close of business were 867 or 9% of the volumes that were traded.
• Price Above $300: A total of 47 bags, or 0.5% of the volume traded, attracted a price of $300 and above.
• Grades AA and AB: 6707 bags, or 69% of the volume traded, were grades AA and AB.
• Brokers: Nine Brokers brokers, New KPCU, Alliance Berries, KCCE Ltd, Meru County Agency, Minnesota Coffee Marketing Ltd, Kirinyaga Slopes , Murang’a Union, Kiambu Union and Kipkelion participated in the trade.
• Buyers: All coffee traded was bought by 17 buyers, led by Ibero. Rockbern Coffee Group bought the lowest amount of coffee buying 8 bags (483Kgs) of grade C at $213 and grade T at $183 per bag.
