Welcome to This Week’s Edition of The HK Coffee Market Summary: Sale 15 Provisional Reports.
The coffee season 2024/2025 Sale 15 took place on Tuesday 21st January 2025 at the usual place, the 2nd floor of Wakulima House along Haile Selassie Avenue where Nairobi Coffee Exchange is located and on online platforms.
A total of 27,864 bags (50 kgs) of coffee were traded a 17% decrease from the 33,435 traded in Sale Number 14 last week. The average price also saw a 4% rise, reaching $348 from the previous $336 per 50 kg bag in Sale Number 14. This average price equals $6.96 per Kg of clean coffee or Kshs 138 per kilo of cherry gross or 110 per kilo to the farmer.
The highest price achieved was $427 per 50 kg, an increase from $412 per 50 kg in sale 14. This maximum price was from KANGOCHO wet mill (Factory) Code:-XAC09F03, a part of Gikanda Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Mathira, Nyeri County.
Key Highlights
• Volumes Traded: 27,864 bags (1,702,301 kgs) were sold at an average price of $348 per 50 kg bag.
• Average Price: This equals Kshs 138 per kilo of cherry at the trading floor or about Kshs 110 to the farmer’s pocket (80%)
• Total Value: The total value of the coffee traded was $11,835,721.7 or Kshs 1.5 Billion
• Highest Price: The highest price paid for coffee in this sale was $ 427 per bag for 1 lot of 76 bags (4,613Kgs) of grade AA from KANGOCHO wet mill (Factory) Code:-XAC09F03, a part of Gikanda Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Nyeri County. This factory’s highest price their coffee fetched last season was $463 per Bag. We will keep an eye on how they perform in the upcoming sales.
• Confirmed Sales: By the close of business, 5,162 bags, or 19% of the volumes traded, had been confirmed.
• Price Above $400: 686 bags, or 2% of the volume traded, were sold for $400 or more.
• Grades AA and AB: Grades AA and AB accounted for 22,390 bags, representing 80% of the total volume traded.
Brokers: Eleven brokers led by Alliance Berries followed by Kirinyaga Slopes, KCCE-MA, New KPCU and Minnesota Marketers.

Buyers: All Coffee was purchased by 19 buyers with C.Dormans leading the pack.
