The African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA) and the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen seed research, training, and testing in Africa.
The key areas of cooperation include promoting seed trade, using standardized seed analysis methodologies, and establishing a framework for future collaboration. The MoU does not involve any financial commitments from either party; funding for specific projects will be determined separately. The signing took place during the recently held AFSTA Congress 2025, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda from March 3rd to 5th, 2025.
The three-day congress brought together seed professionals, plant breeders, researchers, policymakers, government officials, and students.
