Every Tuesday, Kenyan Coffee is traded at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE.
This is how the coffee market was at the NCE on Tuesday 24th October 2023. This was the second “sale” or second market in the 2023/2024 coffee season.
11,343 bags (of 50kgs each) were offered to the market and transacted at an average price of $208 per bag or $4.16 per Kg or Kshs 624 per Kg of Green Beans Equivalent (GBE). The total amount transacted was $2,899,933.1 or Kshs 434,989,950.
Six Agents brought coffee to the market. These include
- Alliance Berries Limited brought 2024 bags of coffee that were purchased at an average price of $202 per bag. The highest price was $329 per bag and the lowest was $129 per bag.
- Kiambu Coffee Marketing Ltd, sold 1175 bags at an average price of $199 per bag. The highest price was $284 per bag and the lowest $95 per bag
- Kipkelion Broker Company sold 1149 bags at an average price of $226, the highest price was $329 and the lowest was $99 per bag
- Meru County Coffee Marketing Agency sold 1783 bags at an average price of $205, the highest was $338 and the lowest $101 per bag
- New KPCU sold 4687 bags at an average price of $212 per bag, highest was $336 and the lowest was $113 per bag
- United Eastern Kenya Coffee Marketing Company brought 525 bags at an average price of $179 per bag. The highest was $248 and the lowest at $85
With regard to buyers/dealers, 23 companies bought coffee from the exchange. Interestingly some of the traditional big buyers also showed up and bought, these include Ibero, Taylor Winch, Louis Dreyfus and C. Dormans.
