Over 3,500 farmers in Tharaka Nithi County will receive free fertilizer from a partnership between the County Government of Tharaka Nithi and Yara Fertilizer Action Africa Initiative.
Governor Muthomi Njuki also says the County has already purchased enough maize, beans and green grams seeds that will be distributed to farmers in all corners of the County.
The Governor who is also the Chairman of the Agriculture Committee in the Council of Governors, presided over the initiative launch for Tharaka-Nithi, Embu and Meru counties at Chuka accompanied by among others Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner Beverly Oporwa, Embu County CECM in charge of Agriculture Jamleck Muturi and his Meru counterpart Carol Mutiga who represented their respective Governors.
Also present was the Agriculture Committee MCAs from Tharaka Nithi and Yara East Africa Kenya team led by their Senior Commercial Director Mr Vitalis Wafula.
