Uasin Gishu County Co-operatives and Enterprise Development CEC Esther Mutai has hailed Safaricom Limited Company for aiding the department’s efforts to digitize all cooperatives and Saccos.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the company’s officials, Mutai said that the system developed for Kibagenge bodaboda Sacco has helped them to mitigate the financial challenges in management and record-keeping for the Sacco.
With Kibagenge Sacco going cashless, they can now send their daily savings through MPESA and the treasurer can login to the portal to confirm payments and the money is automatically transferred to the bank,” said Mutai.
Head of MPESA services, Boniface Githonga said that the financial service is aimed to inculcate the savings culture and monitor Sacco’s savings.
