The Regional Commissioner of Dodoma, Rosemary Senyamule, has allocated 100 acres of land to stakeholders in Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA) to support the development of organic farming activities in Tanzania, while pledging continued cooperation from her office.
She made the announcement during a special dinner organized by the Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM) on March 5, 2026, in Dodoma. The event marked the culmination of the Fourth National Ecological Organic Agriculture Strategy (NEOAS) Conference, which took place from March 3–5, 2026, at the Mtumba Government City in Dodoma. The conference brought together agricultural stakeholders to discuss sustainable and climate-resilient farming systems in the country.
Speaking at the event, Senyamule said the Dodoma Region has fertile, sufficient land suitable for cultivating a wide range of crops.
“I would like to inform you that the present-day Dodoma Region is not the same as it was many years ago, when it was believed to be a semi-desert. Today, it is an agricultural region that is beginning to transform farming. In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, I urge stakeholders in organic agroecology to continue coming to Dodoma to promote this type of farming, which is currently the most preferred,” said Hon. Senyamule.
She further noted that the regional government is working closely with the Ministry of Agriculture to reach farmers. As an example, she cited the Bihawana Centre of Excellence in Agriculture, which provides training to farmers on water conservation, proper fertilizer use, soil preparation, and agricultural extension services.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for Crop Development and Food Security, Prof. Peter L.M. Msoffe, called on stakeholders in ecological organic agriculture to recognize that the ministry will continue supporting their work by ensuring that education on ecological organic agriculture continues to be offered in agricultural colleges across the country.
For his part, TOAM Chief Executive Officer Bakari Mongo thanked both the Ministry of Agriculture and the Dodoma Regional Administration for their contribution to promoting ecological organic agriculture. He also encouraged citizens to take advantage of the various opportunities created by organic farming, adding that TOAM remains ready to cooperate and provide support at all times.
