The Ministry of Agriculture, through the Tanzania National Inclusive Post-Harvest Agribusiness Support Project (TANIPAC), has finalized the construction of a maize processing plant as part of the Post-Harvest Crop Management Centre in Mtanana.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (overseeing Cooperatives and Irrigation), Dr. Stephen Nindi, presided over the handover ceremony for the maize processing plant and steel silos (LOT 2), officially transferring the project to the Director General of the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA), Dr. Andrew Komba, on April 15, 2025, in Mtanana, Kongwa District, Dodoma Region.

Dr. Nindi commended TANIPAC for overseeing the implementation of the project, which cost a total of TZS 8.5 billion, and emphasized the need for proper infrastructure maintenance. He stressed that the project must operate efficiently and with integrity to ensure its long-term positive impact.
Additionally, Dr. Nindi stated that the completion of this project will help address various challenges, including aflatoxin contamination, urging NFRA to ensure proper infrastructure upkeep for sustained effectiveness.
The Director General of NFRA, Dr. Andrew Komba, expressed gratitude to TANIPAC for completing and handing over the project, which will directly benefit citizens through modern maize processing technology.

In a project implementation report, TANIPAC Coordinator Mr. Clepin Josephat explained that the construction of the maize processing plant (62 TDP), three steel silos (9,000 MT), a vehicle weighbridge, a warehouse (5,000 MT), and concrete roads incurred a total cost of TZS 8.5 billion, covering various infrastructure developments.
The construction of the maize processing plant (62 TPB), steel silos (9,000 MT), vehicle weighbridge, warehouse (5,000 MT), and concrete roads began in April 2022 and was completed in April 2025 under contractor M/s CRJE (East Africa) Limited.
