The HK Coffee Market Summary: Sale 28 Provisional Reports

The provisional transaction reports from the Nairobi Coffee Exchange for Sale 28 on April 23, 2025, show that 7,358 bags of coffee weighing 457,523 kilograms were traded at an average price of $336 per 50kg or $6.7 per Kg. The total sales value amounted to $3,077,014.88 (approximately KSh 400,011,934).

The highest price achieved was $466 per 50kg, paid for AA grade coffee from 27IM0001/NJENENI ESTATE/CA.0023 under Alliance Berries Limited. This premium lot consisted of 42 bags weighing 2,553 kilograms and sold for a total of $22,721.70 to Javans Coffee Limited.

Approximately 75% of the total volume traded was confirmed at the reporting time. By grade distribution, Mbuni Heavy (MH) grade dominated the sale at approximately 36% of volume, followed by AB (11%), C (10%), Mbuni light (ML) at 9%, PB grade (7%), UG1 and AA grades (each at 6%), and other grades making up the remainder.

Among the top five buyers, Ibero Kenya Ltd led with approximately 28% of total volume, followed by Louis Dreyfus Company with 23%, Kenyacof Limited with 18%, Taylor Winch (Coffee) Limited with 15%, and C.Dorman Ltd with 8%. Ibero Kenya was particularly active in the MH category, while Louis Dreyfus showed strong interest in premium grades.

Among the BROKERS, Alliance Berries Limited had the highest volume with 2,149 bags (130,538 kgs), achieving an average price of $324.38 per 50kg. KCCE Marketing Agency Limited handled 1,762 bags (108,743 kgs) at an average of $320.61, while New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union PLC traded 1,753 bags (112,034 kgs) at $354.60. Kirinyaga Slopes Coffee Brokerage Company Ltd achieved the highest average price of $378.10 across their 433 bags (27,237 kgs), demonstrating their ability to secure premium prices.

United Eastern Kenya Coffee Marketing Co. Ltd managed 501 bags (30,681 kgs) at $331.99, while Minnesota Coffee Marketers Limited handled 354 bags (22,834 kgs) at $337.73, and Bungoma Union Marketing Agency traded 140 bags (8,750 kgs) at $338.98.
